Next stop Robben Island. Take a ferry from the V&A waterfront to the site that Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for twenty seven years along with many other political prisoners during apartheid. An ex-political prisoner will be your tour guide. You will be taken on a bus around the island to view Mandela’s prison cell, and learn of the islands’ history as a leper colony prior to it’s use as a prison.
